A forerunner of the modern human zoo

A forerunner of the Internet?  Or a sadly-accurate harbinger of our modern zoo lifestyle?

Notice the lack of space, nature, natural light,  fresh air,  movement, and of course, genuine human interaction. Whatever we truly need is lacking. Could this sterile environment be even further away from the type of environment our primal genes need to be optimally expressed?

We need nature.  It is not even an option as most zoo humans tend to believe.  Today we use the term “environment” as synonymous with nature itself, but we are missing a crucial point: that we are nature ourselves.  Therefore, the first environment we need to respect and protect is ourselves, our own bodies and minds.  We must fulfill the natural, evolutionary needs of our species if we want to be strong, healthy, happy and free again.  We simply cannot reinvent ourselves biologically, and certainly not in a short amount of time.

From an evolutionary perspective, we are still hunter-gatherers, and a century of zoo life won’t change this.  Even a time span of ten thousand years wouldn’t change it (except in terms of further physical and mental degeneration)! In fact, we may not survive much longer as a species if we carry on this way– living lifestyles that are not just unhealthy and toxic, but ultimately deadly.

We cannot afford passive hopes and illusory expectations in hypothetically redeeming technologies or politics.  These things will never compensate for ignorance or self-indulgence.  Rather, we must start with the lifestyle we design for ourselves, built around a clear understanding of natural laws and their daily applications.

If you want to thrive in a technologically-wired, but nature-disconnected world, you must be prepared to defy conventional wisdom.   Well, as a matter of fact, be ready to toss conventions and to only keep the wisdom!

You have to dedicate yourself to reducing dependency on modern conventions, while allowing the ancient, universal wisdom that resides in every one of your cells to regenerate and flourish.  This wisdom may lie dormant in those of us who have disregarded its reality, but it doesn’t take long to powerfully revive.  The voice of this ancestral, life-affirming memory is talking to all of us, all the time.  If we were to only listen!

Fortunately, some things have changed for the better.

Erwan, I love where you’re going with Movnat. Zoo people make a distinction between themselves and nature, no longer realizing that this is pure illusion. You’ve made that point well here. I look forward to the DVDs and book with eager anticipation and hope to be able to attend one of your training events next year. Please keep up the good work. What you’re doing is vitally important.

  • @Richard: absolutely, like for instance now we can ACTUALLY order stuff and pay bills online :D .

@Joe B.: working on it. Thanks for the support, it’s always appreciated :) .

At first I want to send best regards from Germany.
I am 38 years old and I do sports since I was 5 years old.
Last Friday I saw your Videos first time ….. very motivating.

I played 15 Years Soccer, Ride Bicycle, trained Kick- and Thaiboxing, went to the gym, trained Krav Maga ….

In 2008 I felt a aversion against training in indoor places. I felt that the training in nature makes me happy. Running during raining makes me smile. This moments in nature and loneliness are moments of satisfaction !!!

But (in Germany) the people smile if you tell them, that running in nature during raining makes a lot of fun.

Many People here think, that the real life ist to be a “consuming sheep” :-) And sports are only possible if we use High-TEch Equipment

    PS:Excuse my bad English :_)

  • How do you feel about anarcho-primitivism Erwan?
I we are supposed to exercise naturally, eat paleo, then why are we not?
Why should or shouldn’t we fight (as in spread the message) for green anarchy?
I look very forward to hearing your response.
    Thank you

  • I do not actually care for the eventual success of ideas, concepts, philosophies or even less politics, I’m interested in people and a more positive, healthy, enjoyable experience of their own lives.
The “why” is only relevant if it leads to the “how to” and the “how to” only relevant if it leads to actual experience. Not keen of labels.

    Excellent answers, thanks.
I like what you are doing, in case that didn’t come across as well as it should have.
If one thing is clear it’s that we have, as you stated, started becoming disconnected from nature.

LOVE what you’re doing! It’s encouraging on so many levels.
