Moving Naturally? The 10 MovNat Principles©

The 10 MovNat Principles©

MovNat© is a fitness concept that teaches you how to move naturally with ease, power, and grace.  You  become very fit through the practice, and that fitness is applicable to any area of life.  MovNat is both a physical education system and activity that places at its core the full range of real-world, species-specific movement skills essential to the natural life of the human being.  Based on this,  we have identified 10 essential principles that meet the requirements of the definition of natural human movement.  These form the foundation of the MovNat method:

  1. Evolutionary

  2. Instinctual

  3. Universal

  4. Practical

  5. Vital

  6. Adaptive

  7. Unspecialized

  8. Efficient

  9. Cooperative

  10. Environmental

In my next posts, I will define and explain each of those principles. Stay tuned!

The Ten movnat principles are great. Myself being a Phys .Ed. teacher, I would love to post them in my Gym so everyone would see them. The Movnat shorts that I bought last year are great and when I wear them at school, everyone always asks me about Movnat and I always tell them to go to your website. I tell all my kids and parents and teachers that Movnat is the best fitness around.

    Hey Erwan,

I am really glad to see “Environmental” on your list. I don`t know if you remember our discussion where I echoed your thoughts that it is hard not to be environmentally focused when you spend so much time enjoying, benefiting and bonding with nature with activities such as MovNat.

As a (mostly) former car nut, I would now much rather be climbing a tree or running barefoot in a pristine forest than driving a car around a hot track and polluting the planet.

    Keep you the good work.

    Chris

    Yes I think so. Here’s what I did last week;

Monday – Primal; natural obstacle course
Tuesday – Heavy; single overhead presses with heavy rock
Wednesday – Fast; 10 minutes of 400m/5 boulder deadlifts
Thursday – Skill; 30 minutes of climbing
Friday – Heavy Conditioning; primal log & rock combo
Saturday – Long/Slow; at beach surfing with my kids, walk/run dog in bush
    Sunday – Stamina; Volcano/Coastal Run

I am playing with the CrossFit fitness spectrum mixed with the MovNat movement spectrum. Going well so far!

    MovNat rocks!

Thanks Mike, Chris, & Terence for sharing your thoughts on the MovNat principles. We hope to see MovNat in schools one day; meanwhile, feel free to share with the kids. And who knows? Maybe a poster will turn up :) It’s definitely a great idea!
