Gray Cook lifting a log

Gray Cook, FMS Founder, participated in a MovNat workshop in West Virginia with his all family. What does he think about his experience?

“I wrote a book on Movement. It’s actually called “Movement” and it scientifically supports MovNat principles and methods in every way. However in the presence of these great instructors I was humbled – in a good way. A way that gave me hope for my children’s future children. I’ve been looking for a tribe of modern fitness professionals that appreciates the raw adaptability of the human flesh and spirit. A tribe that seeks to nourish both in a process that looks more like play and exploration than working out or posting points on a board. A tribe that creates natural movement with superior fitness as a favorable byproduct.”

“MovNat is one of those great ideas that seems so simple in retrospect: moving and exercising in ways that are natural to the human species. Learning MovNat in Mexico was kind of like Na’vi training. Challenging, inspiring, invigorating, and fun. Ready for more.”John Durant MovNat Mexico

“This was the best spent five days of my triathlon career!  I’ve been on countless camps for my professional triathlon but this camp was constantly challenging my body in new ways and my learning curve  was constantly pointing upward.

I believe that MovNat, and the entire philosophy that Erwan teaches, is crucial for my continuous improvement. Not only in terms of athletic prowess, but even more regarding health and long term durability.

I am painfully aware of the single mindedness of athletic skills and with MovNat there’s an entire new world of physical movement and skills to work on.  Being a world class athlete doesn’t mean that you automatically qualify as a skilled MovNat-athlete.  In MovNat we all need to be able to crawl before we can walk!

All athletes serious on understanding the full grasp of functional movement should meet Erwan and attend a MovNat-camp!”

Jonas Colting, Swedish professional triathlete and author of three books, 2-time winner of Ultraman World Champs, 2-time medallist of ITU World Championships, Long Distance.

“I enjoyed the MovNat course very much. In the week of training with Erwan, I feel my movement skills were greatly enhanced. I was faced with my own limitations and fears as some of the things we did were quite challenging. I rediscovered the skills and abilities to do a lot of stuff that I hadn’t done since I was a kid. The playful, joyous nature set during the course made learning fun. Erwan is a great coach and teacher. I thought that his ability to break down, teach and guide people through complex skills was second to none. I see aspects of fitness in a whole new light as a result of this course.”

Hi Erwan

I want to thank you for your guidance and patience at the workshop. The training was a life-altering experience for me in several respects. I feel much happier!
Before I left, I mentioned to you that I was noticing increased range of motion in my neck. I believe the alleviation of the pain is due to a combination of the movements we performed as well as the perception drills.
On a side-note: I’ve had some thoughts regarding human nature and human happiness that MovNat has helped me develop a bit further, through personal experience now (instead of mere theorizing). Roughly, I’ve wondered whether natural movement might contribute to a sort of alignment of evolutionarily more recent and ancient motivational structures in the brain. Perhaps time spent in natural movement counteracts the mind/body’s internal conflict between the contrived physical and attentional demands of modern society (affecting neocortex) and the demands of the ancient subcortical structures that account for the development of universal movements. For example, time spent in natural movement might satisfy primal needs for movement that might otherwise be starved by the compulsion to sit at a desk for school or a keyboard for work. Maybe that’s why it feels so good to move when we make time for movement–because a motivational imbalance (as opposed to a muscular imbalance) has been addressed. The body generally uses hedonic signals (good and bad feelings) to train habits. If we are programmed for natural movement, then it would make sense that we should derive pleasure from natural movement, just as children derive pleasure from play.

Thanks again-
Tony

Erwan,

I am sharing this with you because:

It may help someone you know

It may help you recruit for MovNat

I am damn excited about it!!

When I was 35 years old my doctor told me I was a “walking heart attack” (his words) because of my high cholesterol/triglyceride levels. I have been fighting the battle ever since but mostly without success as I won’t use statin drugs. I had a physical in March and my doc was concerned enough to give me “the lecture” and asked that I come back in a few months to have blood work done to see if my readings had improved (the “lecture” implied that I change my diet, ride my bike, etc.). Honestly, I didn’t make many changes until my week at Summersville. Just for kicks I scheduled the blood work on Monday 7/19. I really wasn’t sure, with all the fats, healthy as they may be, what the results would be. The doctors office called today. Total cholesterol dropped 20%, LDL (the bad stuff) dropped 17%, and triglycerides dropped 50% (BAM!!!!) and HDL (the good stuff) increased over 5%. Ya’ll, that was basically accomplished in ONE WEEK of Paleo diet and MovNat training (wait!, I think I will refer to that as MovNat playing).

Most of you, healthy and young as you are, may not appreciated this. This is huge.

Down 6 lbs since Summersville. Going for that one, solid, hanging, straight armed pull-up. If you have any folks my age who are considering attending a workshop but have some apprehension please pass along my email and/or phone number as I will be happy to talk to them. MovNat was the change I was looking for but couldn’t quite identify or figure out on my own. It may very well have changed the course of my life.

Peace, Jesse Tate

I came to this course both eagerly and with some trepidation. I had done a one day clinic with Erwan in San Diego and gotten a lot out of that, but nine days was a sharp jump in intensity and application. I always felt that the promise of scalability to any level of ability would really be put to the test. At 62, I knew I would probably be the oldest and slowest of the group, and being so overweight would not help. But I also knew if I listened to my fears, I would never get started and make the best of a unique opportunity. Doing this in Brazil was an added bonus, the chance to visit this country something I probably would not have done otherwise.

My skills improved noticeably in the before and after DVD we all received, and I lost 13 pounds! This was not a goal I set for myself, but I’ll take it. Since I have been home in Honolulu, I have been working hard and continuing to lose weight on my paleo diet. I will recommend to others these courses and approach to training as an especially effective way to improve ones physical condition.

“I became intrigued by the concept of MovNat because I’ve been looking for some way to use my entire body to it’s fullest without being bored in a sterile gym environment. I had my reservations upon signing up because I’ve never been particularly athletic and tend to have a remarkably high ‘klutz-factor’. Thankfully, when Erwan Le Corre says it is fully scalable, that is the truth. Each participant had different strengths and weaknesses and he was able to work with us all. Most of the skills practiced were skills that could be worked on and achieved by anyone. Though a few skills were strength-dependent, if we weren’t strong enough to actually do the certain skill, we gained the knowledge of how it can be done and ways that we could improve to eventually get the strength. The experience was phenomenal, not only in the mind-boggling number of skills introduced, but also in the sheer hospitality of Mr. Le Corre. He and his assistant bent over backwards to make sure that we were all comfortable and well-fed, which made the strenuous training sessions easier. Mr. Le Corre was also fervent about sharing his lifestyle and diet with us, which resulted in learning much, much more than just work-out stratagems.”

Thanks for an awesome week. Getting to know you all made my best training experiance ever even greater!

I got addicted to MovNat and tomorrow I´ll send my husband to build me a MovNat playground in the backyard. My poor family! I´m going to shipp them off to a MovNat workshop/clinic as soon as possible. :-)
Erwan and Vic, you are truly amazing. Thank you so much for pouring your heart into reawakening us to our true nature. This week has given me so much and MovNat is going to be a big part of me from now on.

Bryan GarlickI have been playing competitive sports my entire life, and for the last 3 years I have been competing in Mixed Martial Arts. Many elite, professional athletes cross train MMA in their offseason because it is widely regarded as one of the most challenging and effective conditioning methods out there…plus it is a lot of fun! I have had 4 cage fights and many more submission grappling matches; and so with that background I tell you that the MovNat Expansion course seriously kicked my butt! I consider myself to be in really good shape but the Expansion course really exposed a lot of my weaknesses and my overall general unpreparedness. The expansion course is a lot of hard work and a lot of blood sweat and bruises, but it is one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life. The coaching of both Erwan and Vic was extremely effective in that they are able to scale any movement or ability to each particular individual. I never knew there were so many ways to get up and over a wall!!
Since I have returned from my expansion course I have since built myself a mini MovNat course in the woods near my home. I also frequent playgrounds and parks as Erwan and Vic taught us all how to construct our own MovNat courses. Never have I had so much fun while doing something this challenging. To anyone who is considering one of Erwan’s courses DO IT! The experience is life changing physically and mentally. It is guaranteed to be one of the most challenging experiences of your life…but I also guarantee that it will be the most rewarding as well.
This course changed my life for the better! I will be attending as many of Erwan’s future courses as possible! I am officially a MovNat addict! You will be to!!

Erwan,

You and the crew have made a serious impact on my life for sure, the wealth of knowledge that was at that training event was awesome, I have continued to read and work and am making better choices in diet and fitness, I weighed 179.9 Sunday down from about 192 when I was in Bacalar with you training, getting faster and fitter. Still working on the pull-ups and grip, slow progress.
One of the best parts is I now have partially converted a couple more friends toward Paleo and MovNat style fitness and making some impact on a few people at work, it’s contagious!! Hopefully I can make more of your training events in the US when they come around.

Take care,

Jeff Cramblit

Hi Erwan

I wanted to share my 2 month update with you…
I am ecstatic to report that I no longer have “chronic knee issues” – in fact, my knees are completely normal with full range of flexibility!! I’m having a friend take pictures tomorrow to show you that my butt goes all the way to my ankles when I squat. I’m still careful with how fast that I do it but I CAN DO IT. I am running 2.5 miles completely barefoot and use Vibrams for my hiking – pictures will show the incredible mountains just in front of my door as well as the coolest “natural” park in front of the Palm Springs Art Museum (again 2 min walk from my house) that I use for my “gym”. I didn’t even see this space – that is in the full open – until I returned from Brazil.
As we know everyone is obsessed about if anyone has lost weight :-) so you an tell them that I lost over 15 lbs! I think about 5 more to go until I’m back to my regular fit self. Nothing extreme – just moderate level exercise and delicious Paleo diet. I can’t tell you how good this feels to get back to my normal fit body. You really got to see me at the lowest point in my life but with your guidance I bounced back stronger than ever!
I’m still challenged by jumping – there seems to be a mental block and hesitation but I’m working at it a little at a time. The knees still have a slight cracking SOUND only – definitely no pain and NO INFLAMMATION – Yeah!!
I think the diet has really made all the difference to my physiological changes especially in the inflammation problems. Before I went to Brazil, I had such huge results in only 1 month and that was before I knew anything about training MovNat. But the combination of both MovNat training and Paleo diet has been incredible! They have completely changed the quality of my life as I was barely able to walk or climb stairs in January and a few months later my biggest problem is only a few extra pounds… and they will be history soon too!!
As I mentioned I an earlier email – I will participate in a 10K trail run (rock2rock) in Asheville, NC at the end of the month. It’s my first race ever and my goal is simply to do my best – wearing Vibrams, of course as it’s basically a mountain trail race.
Congratulations on all the wonderful things happening for you and MovNat! I can’t wait for the first DVD to come out as my I need help in being more creative in my workouts – that seems to be where I get stuck the most.
Warmly,
Michelle Globis, Palm Springs

Hi Erwan

I hope you are doing well.

I just want to send you an email to say thank you for the Mexico seminar. I had an excellent time and learned lot.

My time in Mexico has increased my knowledge of natural movement and I now have lots of MovNat workouts to practice & improve upon until your DVD & book arrive (you must be sick of people continually asking about the book/DVD – but I’m in no rush for it – take your time until everything is just right).

As expected, your coaching was top class – informative and enjoyable, at just the right pace & intensity. You have a great sense of humour and the days training were a lot of fun. The other guys on the course were a great bunch and I enjoyed their company – I’m pleased to see Movnat attracting such people. We all got along well – they were a friendly, entertaining group which made my experience all the more memorable – and the paleo food was excellent too.

Holding the course in Mexico took me to a part of the world I would not have ordinarily gone to – visiting Bacalar, Tulum, diving in caves, Mayan ruins, camping in the jungle, etc. It was the closest I’ve been to nature for a long time and was an adventure.

Also, I’m pleased to say I passed the PADI diving course I attended in Playa Del Carmen, but I think I’d like to improve my free diving abilities in future – something which I’ll be able to use the breathing techniques I learnt from you. In the meantime, I plan on practicing & improving what I learnt on the course. I still class myself as a beginner when it comes to Movnat – so hopefully one day in future (once I’ve saved enough money ;) . I will be able to attend another Movnat course and learn even more about Movnat – and no doubt experience a different country and train in an exotic natural location – Thailand perhaps?

No doubt you are busy preparing for the Brazil seminar and on media commitments – I’m pleased to see the increased publicity i.e. websites, newspapers, TV, etc that Movnat is getting – let’s hope it continues and Movnat gets the mass publicity/acceptance it deserves. Let’s hope the ‘Tipping point’ isn’t far away!

I know it must be difficult for you, on your own holding seminars & clinics and prepare a DVD, book, etc, etc. So, if I can be of any assistance in helping you just let me know – and in my own small way I will do what I can.

Best regards

Jonathan Cannovan, Scotland

Don’s Story

My name is Don Harris. I am a photographer in Tulsa Oklahoma. I have never liked to exercise. My job is rather physical and I could rarely motivate

Don when he started practicing MovNat

Don after 3 months of MovNat training...and it is only the beginning of his transformation!

myself to go to a gym to “work out”. I have flat feet and have never been able to run with either speed or grace. I am 38 and for the past 23 years have lived with chronic, sometimes excruciating back pain for which no cause or cure had been found for me after many trips to “specialists.”

After photographing an all day wedding, the pain would be so severe in my legs and back that I would be non functioning the following day. I had purchased expensive work shoes and had been fitted with orthopedics. Nothing was helping. In desperation, I researched and learned of the “barefoot” movement and the philosophy of allowing your foot to move as it was meant to move. I have always gone barefoot when at home and I had noticed relief from pain when not spending long amounts of time in shoes. I purchased some completely flat, black “pool” shoes that had almost no support at all and no cushioning of any kind but allowed my foot to move on its own. I wore these to a wedding and to my surprise, my pain level decreased by half. Also, I could function the next day.

This lead me to do more research and I found MovNat.com. I was intrigued with Erwan’s philosophy and the obvious results he had achieved in his own life. The world is so filled with half truths and charlatans. I have tried so many things to help myself. Some of it helped a little. But mostly, I experienced intense physical pain daily. When Erwan announced his first seminars I realized I could go to another back specialist and possibly have to have surgery, or at least get another round of pain pills. Or, I could drive to the other side of the country and live in the woods for a week and see if there was anything to the MovNat thing. I was not encouraged by anyone to go. Friends, family, doctor friends, all expressed high levels of doubt to me. Yet I went anyway.

My entire experience there could be a small book in itself. I was not prepared for what I found. The first two days were the most difficult days I had ever experienced. The pain was so intense that I began to wonder why I had come. Yet Erwan was so encouraging, so gracious, and so real. He did not make any claims or give me pie in the sky stories. He simply shared his philosophy of MovNat and shared himself as a person fully committed to it and to seeing people discover how they were meant to move and live. As beautifully fit as Erwan is, there was never the sense of “I am the master, you are the student.” There was never the sense he was trying to get us to be like or look like him. In fact, the whole week was not about him at all. Erwan scaled the class to each of our abilities. He gently pushed us, but did not force us. There was no sense that this was another fitness fad. Yet after day two, I did not see how I could go on. I felt like every bone in my body was on fire- not because of the training- but because of my own personal condition. I am used to dealing with intense pain and I am not sure of the exact moment I realized it, but that evening I became aware that I had NO pain in my body.

I thought it must have been a fluke or that it would return. But it did not. I told Erwan about it and I think he was just as excited for me as I was. The next day, I experienced a huge energy burst. I had not realized that the pain I was in was robbing me of tremendous amounts of energy. I was able to do things I would not have attempted. It really had nothing to do with being “in shape.” I was, for the first time in years, able to be myself. Without the pain, there was such a happiness inside of me. I did not want to leave. In fact, everyone at the seminar enjoyed just being themselves. No one was trying to impress anyone. The transformation that started there for me continues to this day. I am still pain free. I continue MovNat as my only “work out”. And if I get lazy, I am reminded with a bit of back pain, not to go back to my old ways. The experience I had at that seminar was one of those life changing moments you look back on as one of the best times of your life. If you are looking for a NO BS approach to LIFE, not just exercise, please do not hesitate to come to a seminar. Everyone in my group left excited and feeling like our money, time, and energy was well spent. Erwan is for real. MovNat is for real. And the results you will see and feel in your own body are real too. Beating my body to death in a gym doing repetitive stress exercises just didn’t make sense to me. MovNat makes sense. And it WORKS!

Peace,

Don Harris

jason-smitka“Even with a background that includes six years of US Air Force Special Operations, four years of NCAA competitive swimming, and an entire adult lifetime dedicated to fitness and nutrition, I was AMAZED at the challenge, experience, and adventure that MovNat provided. The practical and scalable practice of the natural movement method that Erwan Le Corre is sharing with the world is something that anyone and everyone, no matter what walk of life they find themselves in, could benefit from learning about. MovNat is the most pure fun I have honestly had while doing something to enhance my health, fitness, and well-being… not to mention my life!”

Jason Smitka

bobmcmillan“Even though I’m nearly 70 years old, the scalability of your training and your personal encouragement every step of the way, allowed me to keep up (in most cases) with the younger men and women in our class. Your encouragement gave me the confidence and skills to successfully do things I would never try on my own. What a powerful experience. Many thanks for everything.”

Bob McMillan

gregcarver“As a certified CrossFit trainer and Kettlebell instructor, I am gratified that MovNat has given me much more than just a series of functional exercises and techniques. In fact, the teachings have provided me with a complete training methodology. As a consequence, I have been able to apply this approach to fitness anywhere I go, whether the setting be urban or rural, indoors or outdoors. I came to this discovery during a 5-day seminar conducted by Erwan Le Corre, in which my traditional approach to strength and conditioning measures were additionally challenged through the application of natural physical movement. Natural movement is our evolutionary birthright and Le Corre knows how to make it accessible to anyone.

M. Le Corre is a true professional whose knowledge, passion and dedication to his vision and his clients are apparent through his charismatic personality. He takes the time to engage each and every trainee, ensuring that the basics are known before more difficult endeavors are attempted. In a word, one might say that his teaching methodology follows a “natural” movement of its own. The man has a gift for instruction. If you have an interest in fitness, health and personal well-being, I would highly recommend that you seek out MovNat and Erwan Le Corre.”

donharrisanderwan1“Erwan, how do I say thank you to someone that has completely changed the course of my life? Words of gratitude are not enough. MovNat has saved me from a life of pills and pain. I know you are getting ready for the next class but just wanted to send you a short note to say how much I appreciate and love you for all you gave of yourself and for giving me something REAL in a world of so much illusion! I hope you will always remember the laughter all of us shared last week as my gift to you. It comes from a soul that feels free.

There is so much more to say and I will say. Just know, my life has a new direction and I will be updating you with pictures of my progress and I greatly desire to help in whatever way I can to bring MovNat to as many people as possible. This was my last hope for a normal life. Thank you for your patience and understanding with me. It was one of the most emotional experiences of my life. It makes me shiver to think I almost did not get to come!

I will be spending the next few months getting in shape the right way as I absolutely want to be certified. Please put me down now on the list for the level one class. I will start saving now. Oklahoma is one of the fattest states in America. So many people want to be healthy. But like me, it hurts so much to do traditional “exercise” that there just isn’t any motivation.

I am still OUT OF PAIN and can’t wait to get home and get in the woods!

Erwan, I do not consider many people to be my “friend”. But please know I consider you a true friend and let me know what I can do to help you realize the vision of MOVNAT.

Much Peace and Love,”

Don Harris

adamtimm“Erwan,

I wanted to write to let you know how much I enjoyed your MovNat Expansion Course. I was not sure what to expect when I signed up to attend. I knew I would learn something about natural movement and we would probably run through the woods to get some exercise, but I did not expect to learn so much valuable information on how to be happy, healthy and free.

I feel I have greatly improved my lifestyle from the knowledge I gained on nutrition, body movement and breathing, while attending the seminar. I now look at everything as a possible “combo workout” and doing this outside makes it very enjoyable. Since being back home, I have done many of these workouts and and can sense my body adapting, becoming stronger and more efficient in my movement.

The seminar was a very enjoyable experience and gave me a break from the “zoo” of everyday life. I now train outside more often, allowing me chances to reconnect with nature on a regular basis. I look forward to future MovNat events and seminars. Thanks again.”

EdWilson“So I just completed a week-long intensive training with Erwan, and I wanted to share my experience so that others have a better idea about what to expect from Erwan, and from MovNat.

So that you know where I am coming from, I am 36, fairly fit, had just tried barefoot running and found it interesting but painful, and didn’t know what to expect from MovNat.

My impressions.

First, it was much more skill-based than I had expected. For everything we did, running, jumping, balancing, breathing, climbing, swimming etc, there was much more emphasis on skill (and as Erwan says, ‘Mindfulness’) than I could have guessed going into the training.

Second, Erwan was much more laid-back and entertaining than I would guessed. Truly the more one is natural, the more comfortable and fun one becomes, and he is a perfect example of that.

Third, the training gave me a huge confidence boost that I didn’t see coming. It was very cool to see concrete demonstrations of how skill can minimize risk and increase ability. Erwan is an excellent coach and was able to transfer those skills to the entire group, and by the end of the week, we were all doing things we wouldn’t have tried earlier in the week.

The thing about Erwan is his sincerity. Every now and then you meet someone who is not just about business, but is actually eager to teach and help and assist. In every way he was that. He loves what he does, and you can tell.

MovNat is about moving and training intelligently and efficiently in a way that minimizes risk (danger stays the same, the risk changes – but that’s for Erwan to explain). MovNat increases your ability by increasing your skill as well as your conditioning…its not that you put more into it, its that you move more effectively.

Erwan is Not a drill sergeant. He knows how to coach ‘appropriately’ – he can be patient and compassionate when teaching, and demanding and intense when he knows that you are capable of getting past a hurdle. At all times, he is extremely approachable and fun to be around.

All in all as Erwan says, MovNat it is NOT about dominating nature, its about being part of it. Its demanding, and you definitely leave with a comfort zone a whole lot larger than you came with, but I loved almost every minute of it.

Which leads me to this: if you are the type to cling tightly to your ‘comfort’ zone, you will either hate movnat, or love it for getting you to push the envelope.

For me it was even better than I thought it would be; I was immersed in nature, learned tons of training tips and concepts, trained hard from morning till night, and got a big confidence boost, while eating natural food and being around people that had the same interests. It was tough leaving it to go home.”

Ed Wilson, Pilates Instructor, Canada

P.S. Now that I have trained with Erwan, I can really see a difference between the MovNat video and some of the other videos that you see out there (and there are bound to be more). MovNat is not about going full speed all out caution to the winds as you run and climb and jump through nature. It is about using skill and technique to improve your ability and condition yourself as you reconnect to and recognize what is natural in you and around you.

An analogy would be like learning how to do a clean and press lift in the gym. You can pick it up and get it above your head, and over time, get a little better at it or you can have an experienced coach (who had experienced coaches) teach what to do and what not to do when lifting weights. Training with someone who hasn’t been coached and has done weights for a year or 2 will get you injured and minimize your progress, and its exactly the same with natural movement. Its incredible how much there is to learn about something as simple as jumping or landing, running, climbing, balancing, going underwater etc. Erwan has been doing this stuff for 30 yrs, and he trained with people that came from generations of this sort of thing. His niche is getting you to challenge your limits without damaging the body.

“Hi Erwan,

You are a crazy man! :)

I am still adjusting to being back. Just being in nature and having it be so peaceful and only thinking about working out and learning more about your philosophy was just so wonderful.

I just know that you will be successful at what you do. You were a great inspiration to me and it was wonderful to get to know you. I will continue to look on your website for more seminars.

I hope to stay in touch with you and hear about what you’re up to. I think MovNat is a fantastic creation….truly. You are making the world a better place by introducing this phenomenal concept and way of thinking and I know that the more people find out about this and about you….there will be no stopping it’s growth.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you and again, THANK YOU for all the cool things you taught me this last week.”

“I recently attended the first MovNat Expansion course at Summersville Lake WV. It was such an amazing experience in so many ways.. Under the watchful eye of Erwan and his Assistant Jeff we were safely shown the 12 capacities of movement that make up MovNat. Erwan is an amazing coach and is able to break down the skill in such a manner that anyone can learn. I felt i learned more about the body and how it is suppose to move in 5 days then i have in years of school. Erwan also talks about nature and how important it is to each and everyone of us. I developed a better understanding about nature and was able to feel the power of it.One thing about the seminar that i did not expect was the type of people that are interested in MovNat. Our group was just an amazing group . We didn’t have anyone trying to show off. It was just 12 guys rooting each other on as we stepped out of our comfort zone. . Everyone in our group had their own strengths when it came to movement skills but everyone also had weaknesses as well. When we were faced with an area of movement that was difficult it was important to focus on the techniques Erwan showed us. Erwan allowed us to try and figure out an obstacle or movement first, then he would show us the most efficient way to do it.

daniel-spencerIts all about efficiency. Just like in life you can’t muscle through everything it is important to look around and find another way to do things that complete the same goal. This aspect of MovNat is very humbling and keeps you motivated to become more skillful. Erwan also teaches us how to train on our own in safe manner he gives you all the tools to design your own MovNat workout even when he is not there. I feel very confident that i can now safely train MovNat no matter where i am, all you need is a will and an imagination. I would highly recommend this seminar to everyone. If you are blessed with the opportunity to attend a seminar do it you will not be sorry. If you do hopefully you will gain new MovNat brothers just like i did.

This is just the start of spreading the message of Natural Movement.”

“Until recently, the definition of fitness has been mystery to me and I struggled to find a satisfying approach to become a happy and healthy person. I had tried various exercise routines, improving my eating habits and improving my outlook on life. While I did see some improvements here and there, I continually found the approaches I was using were not satisfying and often were too specialized to benefit me on the whole. As a result, I frequently lost the enthusiasm to continue my latest initiatives and kept looking for that elusive fitness approach that I could stick with.

christopher-mckayI found that approach earlier this year when I read a Men’s Health article on MovNat.

The article fascinated me and I ended up reading it many times over. Though a bit skeptical at first, the thought that one approach could tie together the fitness of my mind, body and soul was intriguing. I immediately did all the research I could about MovNat and like-minded approaches (eg. Exuberant Animal, POSE, Wild Fitness) and eagerly started to apply the principles I had learned. I found my exercises very satisfying and eagerly looked forward to every workout. When the details for MovNat education seminars were posted, I jumped at the chance to attend and to get the complete and educated picture directly from Erwan.

What was provided at that course exceeded my expectations. Erwan led a comprehensive 5 day course covering the 12 natural movements enforced by MovNat. The movements do not favor one body part over another nor do they have a goal of creating an expertise in one specialized activity. Instead, their goal is to create a generalist approach to fitness creating competency in all movements. Properly applied, these movements are at the same time exceptional exercises in terms of strength, flexibility and endurance and are also deeply satisfying.

What makes these natural movements so satisfying? They appeal to our true nature that has been developing over the course of millions of years. What I have learned over the last several months seems obvious, but forgotten by most of us… Our minds and bodies evolved in order to optimize our chances at surviving as hunter-gatherers. In our modern world with our specialized and too-often static exercises, we neglect our instinctual drive to apply our movement skills in a natural environment with all of its exciting and ever-changing adaptability challenges (ie. a rock is never perfectly balance like a barbell and the challenge of climbing a tree will change with every tree you choose). Like zoo animals (a reference often used by Erwan), most of us are simply not stimulated by our unnatural environments. When you start practicing the natural movements in the beauty of nature you start feeling young, enthusiastic and in touch with what you have evolved to do.

Erwan also trains his students intensively on food and its role and benefits to overall fitness. You learn to see food as the fuel that will provide you the effective energy you need to thrive physically and intellectually. Again, you begin to appreciate the benefits of respecting the eating habits that has allowed our species to thrive over the course of our evolution. And critically, Erwan educates his students on how properly prepared natural foods can be delicious and energizing.

The MovNat approach brings its practitioners back to their roots by engaging our minds and bodies as they were meant to be engaged. Like other animals, we are happiest in our natural environment and are likely to become lazy and depressed when placed in a zoo environment where our true nature is neglected. To truly understand and apply these concepts, a person needs the excellent coaching and guidance provided by Erwan at his MovNat seminars. It was an eye-opening event that I am happily applying to my life. I look forward to continuing my education and application of MovNat and will happily recommend the education seminars to anybody and everybody who yearns to practice a complete and energizing approach to total fitness.

Sincerely,

Christopher McKay, Canada

What you have created is reawakening a life back to our natural being. What makes your teaching enjoyable is your motivation and your overall personality that is inspiring and very comical. MovNat really brought out the best movements in me physically, and also brought out the unexpected mental and spiritual aspect with my movements. You truly have a gift, please keep pursuing it, and show the world what a great thing Natural Movement can do for them, and each other. Our groups encouragement was amazing, and I pray that all the other groups experience what a great time that we had. I look forward in certification, and being a part of the MovNat movement. I would be willing to help out in anyway helping you get this going.”

MauricioPerez“Its amazing to learn how much of what you think you know all along could have being done differently and more efficiently plus how many body parts and muscles are neglected in your everyday training. Thanks for pointing out this weaknesses by doing and practicing some new skills while receiving superb coaching and great support and encouragement from you and the other participants in a very challenging environment.

Eye opening in many ways. Great experience. Great exercise. Great learning. Great people. Great coach. Thanks .”

jeremiah-konkle“Greetings Erwan! Thank you for the incredible experience that the MovNat seminar was! I found it incredibly inspiring, educational, beautiful, relaxing, invigorating, fun, and of course, life changing. :-) I’m in a somewhat transitional time in my life and the MovNat experience gave me a great base of awareness about fitness and movement and also a way to consciously move forward and explore, develop and expand my own capabilities in those areas. The degree to which your philosophies of true nature vibrated the core of my being cannot be understated. Natural movement awareness and training will certainly be an integral part of my life as I move forward.”

john_cropped“I spent 5 days training with Erwan Le Corre for one of his first US MovNat Expansion seminars, and brought home a practical knowledge of dozens of techniques for the 12 fundamental movement skills, along with the experience needed to self-coach my own training in the future. I have a new arsenal for natural movement training, and I feel more prepared for the challenges I will face. I would recommend anyone interested in health, fitness, athletics, or strength and conditioning to pursue MovNat instruction as soon as possible. It will rock your world!”

Jeff“Getting to work and coach with Erwan was one of the best experiences in my life. I had the privilege to help Erwan with the USA seminars in Summersville West Virginia. Everything came through and we turned out to have 4 amazing groups that each had a unique personality and rewarding attributes. This is a credit to our hard work, but most importantly to Erwan’s great coaching system and a very intelligent approach to developing people’s abilities. The ability to scale the experiences to everyone’s level and seriously challenge everyone in an outdoor environment in a safe and effective manner is a very unique and special talent he has worked to achieve. I would recommend MovNat to anyone of any ability with even the slightest interest level because you will be impressed, you will leave with better skills and knowledge, and you will wish you had more time with Erwan than your session.”

“Erwan,

I wanted to again say thank you for your excellent coaching at the seminar this week. Thinking back I have had trouble coming up with a week I enjoyed more than this week. I was truly humbled by how some seemingly simple things, proved themselves difficult. The week was eye opening to a whole new world of fitness. I appreciate the levity and humor you injected into all your teaching, as well as how you opened up and gave us your personal philosophy on life, nature, and movement. I love what you are trying to do in bringing natural movement to life in our stagnant society. Your philosophy is inspiring to me, and your athletic ability is unquestionable.

I hope in the very new future to leave my corporate job and move towards a career in fitness and seeing the freedom that something like movnat inspires pushes me closer to making the leap.

It was an absolute pleasure to learn from you and I am honored to be able to call you my friend.

Thanks again,”
