Wildfitness embraces MovNat

Wildfitness, a successful fitness company, embraces the MovNat Coaching System!

By the beginning of April I traveled all the way from Seattle to Kenya to reach a beautiful place called Watamu by the Indian Ocean.

A few days later I started the MovNat instruction especially arranged for Wildfitness, a fitness vacation company based in the UK whose wild ethos of exercising, health and life is very aligned with my own “True Nature” philosophy.

The event went extremely well with dedicated, positive, smart, energetic and friendly students and I am glad to announce the official certification of 6 MovNat level 1 trainers!

Wildfitness is a very successful company that shares with MovNat an almost identical vision of rehabilitating Zoo humans back to their true, wild nature.

Testimonials...anyone?

Their fitness program has always been based on a natural and evolutionary approach, but MovNat provides an even more structured and comprehensive coaching model, with a stronger emphasis on real-world applications and context.

Regarding the fantastic testimonials below, don’t get mistaken folks, the photo of me on the left reveals all about how I actually obtained them

“On an idyllic sandy white beach in Kenya I attended the first MovNat coaches training course with natural movement expert Erwan Le Corre.
Working as a coach for Wildfitness whose philosophy is on natural movement and outdoor training, I was intrigued to learn from Erwan and find out more about his take on “Wild” movement.  Over the course of 7 days I learnt to run, walk, balance, jump, lift etc…with efficiency and fluidity and coach 12 natural capacities of movement in a system that was comprehensive, progressive and best of all fun!
MovNat is the way forward to re-educate ourselves to move as we are designed to with nature in mind and Erwan is a truly inspirational teacher. I loved every minute of it and am so excited to become one of MovNat’s first certified coaches.”
Jess Reinhold, Head Coach for Wildfitness and MovNat Level 1 Coach

“I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thank you for an inspirational and enlightening 10 days.
I thoroughly enjoyed the MovNat course, loved learning the movement capacities and variations (I feel I understand my body better than ever before) and I must confess to being seriously impressed with how you’ve broken down and then synthesized the movement principles, perception drills, essential techniques, etc.
You really have thought everything through with exceptional clarity and depth and created something that embodies the very essence of movement.
It is a fantastic achievement and I wish you every success going forward, you deserve it.”
Edward Drax, Operations Director for Wildfitness and MovNat Level 1 Coach

“Inspired and inspiring, natural, empowering, challenging and with a strong ethos for true nature and human kind – this is Erwan Le Corre and MovNat. I have been in the fitness industry for many years as personal trainer and coach and a passionate sportsman in both team and individual sports – always looking for the holy grail of overall fitness – strength, power, balance, mobility, endurance but also control, self awareness and body intelligence – MovNat is the closest I have come yet.
The level 1 coach course was well structured, methodical and thorough with particular emphasis on coaching people each at their own level with incremental progressions ensuring absolute safety but not at the expense of the powerful instant gratification found in the natural movements we, as human animals, have evolved over millions of years.
If there’s one action to get to the top of your ‘things to do list’ – get to a MovNat seminar or better still a coach class. Thanks Erwan for new inspiration.”
Colin Holding, Personal Trainer at Wildfitness and MovNat level 1 Coach

“In attending the first ever MovNat certification course, I had expected to have fun, do some monkey movements and hug some trees.  What I actually learned was an extremely well considered, methodical, comprehensive system for natural human movement professionally taught and exemplified by Erwan Le Corre.
I firmly believe that MovNat training should be the basis of movement training for all humans who have not been brought up in natural surrounding and it will soon be the system used for physical training at gyms and in schools.  Our mission for Wildfitness has always been to teach and provide an experience where our clients eat, move and live in harmony with nature and MovNat is a perfect method which we have now implemented in our movement program.”
Tara Wood, Founder of Wildfitness MovNat level 1 Coach

Very interesting… I’ve heard of Wildfitness before and had thought it seemed similar to MovNat.

Do you have any plans to hold certifications in Europe? Possibly you could hold it at the Wildfitness camp in Crete? But then again, maybe Brazil would be best….a bit more wild….natural :)

What will the cost be approximately for the USA/Brazil certifications and how long is the course e.g. 1 week??

Also, if I was to arrange a training week with Wildfitness – have you approved them to teach MovNat?

Hopefully I’ll be able to make it to one of your certifications in 2010.

    Thanks

  • Jonathan, yes, Wildfitness has several MovNat level 1 certified coaches now so they are implementing the NMCS principles and techniques and will very soon start training their clients the MovNat style.

The certifications will be held in the USA where we are planning on opening an indoors/outdoors facility next year.

The duration of a level 1 certification course is indeed about 6 days and there is no way this can be compressed into a shorter event.

All people that have filled out the certification form will be sent a newsletter with all necessary information about the certification courses only when everything is set to welcome them.
This process cannot be rushed as it all requires structure and organization, plus moving to a different country.

    Thanks

Don’t forget Joash Akwiry, an amazing native Kenyan trainer at Wildfitness who was also certified! Joash recently emailed me and told me how much he learned, and how difficult it was. you make this look so easy, Erwan! Look forward to attending one of your own programs someday, myself, and maybe to see you back in Watamu again? Watamu’s my second home. Hope you find a place equally as magical in the USA.

    Maggie

  • Hey Maggie, Joash is not forgotten and neither is Anton! Both were naturally talented guys with lots of raw energy.
    Joash survived, I didn’t push too much ;-) .
Watamu is indeed a magical place, but my place in Itacare…well, come one day and “feel” how powerful the vibes can be when you find the energy of the ocean and the energy of the jungle together in one place!

    Warm regards,

    Erwan

Itacare, here i come! a few years ago, I was so unfit, I couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs. Now, I box, swim in the warm ocean waters, do kettle bells, run and love every minute of it. I’m excited, at the age of 49, to find I have a lifetime of fitness ahead of me that is fun, not boring gym stuff. When I return home from my second home in Africa, i head out the door to the meadows and forests behind my home in Vermont near the Canadian border. I run, i jump, I skip, I climb trees. i have learned to love life again, and, unless the weather is very cold, do everything I can to move like nature intended me to move, barefoot (or almost!) and free. Thank you, Erwan. You’ve helped so many of us find freedom in our bodies, and FUN. And fun is missing in a lot of people’s lives there days.

See you in Itacare! Hope you can handle a 49 year old woman who, sometimes, isn’t at the front of the pack but is the most enthusiastic of the bunch!

I look forward to seeing MovNat spread far. Its already going places. The buzz around your work is building. Its wonderful.

All the best for your continued success!

Hey Erwin I got a question. I have been inspired by movnat to re-invent training in my mind. I play all sorts of sports from tennis to boxing to rugby. Every summer i get a core groupe of people who train with me to do all sorts of crazy stuff in the summer (racing with parachuts, fireman carry up hills).
I read your article in mens health, I am going to use the example workout provided. My question is, is there any infringment, or copywrite or grounds i would cross if I modified and some movnat ideas to fit a summer training program? I just don’t want to hurt anyones feelings or do something illegal.

  • Hey Maggie, it is good to hear, I get many emails from people that want to say thanks for the inspiration and new freedom and horizons and it really touches me always.

49? Means you can enjoy another half century of exuberant locomotion!

  • Michael, feel entirely FREE to use these few tips. They just represent a extremely light insight in the overall MovNat practice.

There is no copyright whatsoever when it comes to the freedom to move naturally. No sport, no method, no concept owns anything about movement, not even MovNat. It is universal and is the property of the human species as a whole.
So if I inspire people to move again and to move the way they are designed to move, it makes me more than happy!
Now what is intellectual property and trademarked is the MovNat Natural Movement Coaching System, which itself is not something natural like you could pick up a ripe fruit on a tree, but the outcome of a human design, in this particular case designed to help people develop, restore or maintain their natural movement abilities in a broader, faster and safer manner.
So THAT, along with whatever text content is part of the MovNat program, is what is legitimately protected by means of trademark or copyright so that no one can commercially exploit this name, concept or material.
There are a specific design and content that is the outcome of a hard work, and a specific purpose that is the outcome of particular philosophy and values, and I guess anyone can respect that.

On a side note, when thinking of MovNat, it is best to think “natural movement” not “fitness”, “education” not “sport” and maybe “lifestyle” not “latest trend”.

    Cheers!

  • Thanks for article. It’s very imformative stuff.
    I enjoy to read movnat.com.
