You’re Certified. Now what?
Your first 90 days as a natural movement coach.
You passed the rigorous physical and coaching assessments. You earned your MovNat credential under the critical gaze of senior instructors. Now you want to teach, guide, and build a livelihood around practical, evolutionary movement. Yet the very morning after certification, the immediate next step is markedly less obvious than you anticipated.
1. The Reality of Starting
Imagine a prospective client sitting at a kitchen table, evaluating two options: an established practitioner who has coached 4,000 hours in the local park, and you, freshly certified with genuine enthusiasm but zero logged client hours. There is no moral failing in being at the absolute beginning of your instructional timeline.
Be honest about where you stand. Attempting to present yourself as a seasoned master of gait mechanics or complex hanging transitions creates cognitive dissonance for both you and your athlete. Start with individuals who already hold high confidence in your personal integrity, discipline, and earnest commitment to their physical well-being.
“Your job is not to pretend that difference does not exist. It is to give the right person a reasonable, trustworthy way to begin working with you.”
— MovNat Field Operations Directive // Cohort Foundations
When you acknowledge that you are building your coaching vocabulary, the psychological weight evaporates. Your rate can reflect your introductory phase; your attentiveness, conversely, will likely exceed that of overloaded coaches who run eight sessions a day on autopilot.
2. Build Support Around Three Pillars
A coach operating in total isolation degrades quickly into idiosyncratic habits. Natural human movement is deeply empirical: it requires external feedback, objective calibration, and structured reinforcement. Establish three anchors before your inaugural paid session.
The Mentor
A Level 2 or Level 3 practitioner willing to review a 5-minute video of your coaching every 30 days.
The Roadmap
A disciplined, deterministic 5-step loop for every movement sequence instead of improvised drills.
Continuing Ed
Targeted expansion in ground mechanics, foot restoration, and somatic metabolic conditioning.
[ACTION // CLINICAL MENTOR ENGAGEMENT]
Never ask a prospective mentor: “Can you mentor me?” The request is too open-ended. Instead, present a bounded, specific puzzle:
“I have a 48-year-old desk worker who loses heel contact during deep squatting without elevating their torso. May I send you a 15-second clip showing my cue sequence for feedback?”

3. A Working Roadmap
Do not improvise the architecture of your hour. Use the standard MovNat operational feedback loop:
Identify the client’s practical movement objective and history.
Watch baseline execution without early vocal interruptions.
Isolate the single mechanical bottleneck causing energy bleed.
Deliver one explicit proprioceptive or environmental constraint.
Re-test under slight variation to test true motor retention.
GROUND-TO-STAND
The Floor-to-Stand Regression Loop
For example, if an athlete seeks to get down to the forest floor and back up with fluid confidence:
- Understand: Ask why floor transitions matter to them (e.g., playing with grandchildren, trail stability).
- Observe: Have them execute three natural get-ups without coaching intervention. Notice balance checks and hand placements.
- Prioritize: Address hip hinge restriction before foot positioning. Overloading cues at once breaks motor learning.
- Coach: Use a tactile prop (like a light dowel or yoga block) to create clear spatial parameters.
- Review: Retest without the prop. Celebrate the mechanical economy rather than athletic bravado.

4. Continuing Education & Strategic Partners
Do not let your education plateau after certification weekend. Consolidate your core movement repertoire through structured online coursework and allied partner paradigms.

5. Month-by-Month Execution Plan
Ninety days broken down into three 30-day tactical arcs. Each phase has a single objective and explicit operational guardrails.
DAYS 01 – 30
The Introductory Offer
Do not attempt complex subscription retainers. Craft an introductory block of exactly three sessions with four trusted individuals. Define the service, establish a clear schedule, clarify the limited commitment, set boundaries, and specify what happens next.
Coach Script Field Note
“I recently earned my MovNat certification. As part of establishing my live coaching hours, I am working with four people through a complimentary 3-session movement evaluation. We will isolate your crawling, floor transitions, and balance. In exchange, I only ask for 15 minutes of honest feedback after our third hour. Are you open to scheduling session one next Tuesday?”
DAYS 31 – 60
Community & Calibrated Feedback
Expand beyond your immediate inner circle without cold digital outreach. Donate a 4-week movement introduction package to a local school or conservation fundraiser auction. The winners are intrinsically motivated and community-connected.
Deliver one clear cue instead of three during any single movement sequence. If their knees collapse inward during a landing, cue only the tripod foot pressure. Ignore the arms until the feet anchor.

DAYS 61 – 90
The Sustainable Practice
Transition from trial models to paid coaching packages. Offer small semi-private pods (2 to 4 people). Semi-private training drastically lowers client cost barriers while increasing your hourly yield and fostering authentic camaraderie.
6. Administrative Steps & Registry Checklist
Do not lose momentum through bureaucratic friction. Complete these two formal MovNat network milestones before your 45th day certified:
Register on the Global Trainer Map
Log in to MovNat Portal → Certification Status → Trainers Map → Submit coordinates, bio, and coaching specialty.
Host or Co-Host a MovNat Workshop
Navigate to Trainers Workshop Request → Select Preferred Calendar Dates → Submit request 6 weeks in advance for headquarters sanction.
7. The 7 Metrics Dashboard
Track these seven operational variables every Sunday evening. They provide unclouded visibility into whether your coaching practice is taking root or stalling.
Target: 3 intentional movement dialogues per week with real individuals.
Number of confirmed, calendar-locked coaching sessions booked.
Direct minutes spent cueing and observing live human movement.
Weekly hours dedicated to academy courses, gait anatomy, or peer review.
Documented progressions: e.g., barefoot ground contact without foot cramping.
Ratio of introductory clients who renew for an extended training block.
Ensure park permits, personal training liability insurance, and gear wear are accounted for in hourly calculations.
Your First Step Begins This Week
This week, choose one person you can responsibly help and invite them into a clear, limited coaching arrangement. Prepare for the session with precision, document their movement hurdles, and follow through.
